Our Story

Captain Steve's wife Roberta of 42 years and counting is a recently retired school social worker. She spends much of her time exploring the trails of Oceanville and working one of her three looms, creating beautiful weaving pieces. She thoroughly enjoys her new role as "Harbor Weaver" and occasionally acts as "first mate" on Captain Steve's charter boat the "Bert & I".

There is a rich history in the woods of Oceanville, Maine. Roberta's family has lived on Oceanville for over 200 years. Her parents farmstead (located just through the woods) is a nationally certified bicentennial farm. Over six generations have called this corner of the world home. The Johnson's have lived in their current island home for over 25 years. In the summer of 2002, they built a log cabin to offer affordable vacation rental to guests from around the world.

Captain Steve is a licensed U.S. Merchant Mariner. He served as Stonington’s Harbor Master for 20
years and now enjoys showing people the islands the way they were meant to be seen – from the sea!

Boo is the friendly Mini Australian Shepard who herds the chickens and acts as honorary mascot of the Bert & I.
